Adapting acupuncture for babies and small children
Japanese paediatric acupuncture is non-invasive, painless and effective for a wide range of problems in children from birth to age five and older who may be afraid of the idea of using needles for therapy. A particular style of acupuncture known as Shonishin is a refined method of treatment approach using specialist instruments with rounded edges for gentle pressing, rubbing, tapping or scraping techniques on the skin over the body, including the abdomen, chest, back, lateral aspects of the arms, lateral and posterior aspects of the legs, back of the neck and head. This non-invasive treatment approach using techniques to give gentle stimulation will help not only to reduce symptoms, it will also enhance wellbeing.
